DATA
I feel confident participating in math discussions.
The first math attitude survey was given in January. Three out of the 12 students disagreed with feeling confident participating in math discussions in January while only 1 student disagreed in March. Additionally, None of the students strongly agreed with this statement in January compared to the 4 students in March. Even though Rocket Math was working on their multiplication automaticity students were still feeling more confident participating in math discussions by March. I believe this was because students were working with their peers each day practicing their facts and completing goals they set for themselves.
I know my multiplication facts.
In January, 42% of my students disagreed with the statement, "I know my multiplication facts" and only 17% of them agreed. But in March, only 8% disagreed and 50% of the students either agreed or strongly agreed! This showed significant growth. I believe they felt they knew their multiplication facts more because they were practicing everyday out loud. There was specific time set aside during instruction for them to only focus on their facts.
I am good at math.
In January, 17% of the students disagreed with the statement, "I am good at math." In March, every single student either was neutral, agreed, or strongly agreed. Even though we were only practicing multiplication facts, students' confidence in math class overall was growing. So much of math in 4th grade involves multiplication that they were now able to do more complex skills because they weren't struggling with their multiplication facts.
TWO MINUTE TIMED TEST
This graph is a progression of the 2-minute timed test that was taken every two weeks. This test has 80 problems and each student has an individual goal to reach by the end of the two months. My data shows that every single student increased the number of multiplication facts that they know. In the beginning, nine of my students weren't able to complete 30 problems in two minutes. By the end, every student but one completed more than 30 problems in two minutes. From January to March the students' growth ranged from 7-25 more problems correct on the two minute timed test.

"I like Rocket Math because it gives me new challenges everyday."
"I like Rocket Math because it gives me another way to learn my facts."
